Antonio Conte details the reason for turning down snterest from clubs like PSG

When Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Real Madrid, it was clear that the French giants would be moving on from Mauricio Pochettino, and one of the names linked to replace him was Antonio Conte.

The Italian had arrived at Tottenham Hotspur to help turn their season around, which he was able to accomplish, having them finish in the top four. Despite the links to PSG, Conte ended up remaining with the north London club.

In an interview with Football.London, the 52-year-old stated that he didn’t want to leave Spurs due to him beginning the project.

“[It was] because I said that we have just started the project,” Conte said. “I signed a two-year contract for Tottenham, and then when I spoke with the club, we understood that we wanted to build something important.”

“We have to know for sure it’s not simple because in England in this moment there are three teams that in the previous season finished in front of us.”

PSG was linked to various names to fill the position once they sacked the Argentine. However, once the French giants hired sporting advisor Luis Campos for his role, he settled on reuniting with Christophe Galtier.

This season will show whether Conte made the right decision to stay with Spurs or perhaps to head to the Ligue 1 side would have been the right decision.
