West Ham came away from Anfield with nothing to show for their efforts last night, and Declan Rice was absolutely perplexed after the match, writes the Hammers News. Rice was absolutely sensational for the Hammers, and was the driving force behind his side’s brilliant second-half performance against Liverpool.
West Ham really should have taken something from the game. Rice was handed the Man of the Match award at the full-time whistle – a rare occurrence considering he was on the losing team. Jurgen Klopp certainly would have stood up and took notice of Declan Rice’s display, with Liverpool allegedly keen to sign the West Ham star.
It really was a travesty that the 23-year-old was on the losing side last night…
The Hammers midfielder did not stop driving his side on last night.
David Moyes said after the game that Dec was the best player on the pitch at Anfield last night by a country mile, and he wasn’t wrong.
The West Ham players can consider themselves extremely unlucky not to have taken anything away from the match last night – Rice in particular.
Dec spoke to reporters last night and admitted that the result left him feeling sick, as quoted by ESPN:
“I feel sick, I honestly feel sick. There was enough in the second half to nick something from the game.”
Hopefully Rice and his West Ham teammates will use last night’s second-half performance against Liverpool as a springboard to a successful run before the break for the World Cup next month.
David Moyes, much like Rice, will be truly devastated that his team didn’t leave Merseyside with a positive result to show for their efforts last night.
It’s just incredibly frustrating that Moyes didn’t set up his side to go for Liverpool straight from the kick-off – it could have been a very different outcome, had he done that.
Declan Rice was clearly gutted after the Liverpool vs West Ham outcome. His teammates, David Moyes and the fans would have been as well.
