Tottenham take on Newcastle United tomorrow and early team news is already emerging to suggest Ryan Sessegnon will start, writes the TBR.
After watching his side fall apart at Manchester United in midweek, Conte is expected to look at making a few changes against Eddie Howe’s in-form Magpies. The Toon can close the gap on Spurs to just a few points if they win and suddenly make the race for the top four even more exciting.
And according to The Evening Standard, Antonio Conte could be about to turn back to Ryan Sessegnon as he hopes to give the starting XI a boost. Sessegnon, who was described as ‘fantastic‘ by Antonio Conte previously, has impressed the Italian ever since he arrived as Spurs coach.
However, Ivan Persic’s arrival in the summer has seen Sessegnon have to share the left wing-back slot with the experienced Croatian. Indeed, Perisic can even be seen as Spurs’ number one choice in that position.
But this weekend it looks like Conte is prepared to change things and bring Sessegnon back in. The 22-year-old signed from Fulham and has only just started to kick on after spending time out on loan previously.
Ivan Perisic is a fine player but sometimes an injection of youth into proceedings can pay dividends and Ryan Sessegnon has not let Conte down yet this season.
He is equally good at going forward as he is defending and in a home game where Spurs fans will want to see their team on the front foot, Sessegnon might be a good option.
Certainly, Conte needs to change something from Old Trafford. The performance was woeful at times and certain players will be looking over their shoulders ahead of this weekend’s fixture.
