Journalist Greg O’Keeffe has claimed on the All Together Now podcast that Idrissa Gueye, Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin look set to be absent for Everton this evening, writes the TIF.
While Frank Lampard will have been left angered from what he saw on Sunday night at Goodison Park when Everton fell to a 2-0 defeat in what was only their third home loss of the season, seeing a trio of first-team players limp off during the game may well have been more alarming for him in the long term.
This is because they weren’t injuries to fringe players, but ever-presents in the side this season when fit in Gueye, Onana and Calvert-Lewin – and they don’t appear to have shaken off their knocks in time for the club’s Carabao Cup game against Bournemouth.
Everton are set to take on the Cherries in the League Cup without a trio of their star players, according to O’Keeffe.
He said: “There’s a lot of question marks hanging on it as we go forward and we could do with some good news on Onana and Gueye, and obviously Calvert-Lewin more than anything.
“Obviously, they won’t be playing tomorrow [vs Bournemouth] but I wouldn’t imagine he’d risk too many players for the first game at Bournemouth in the cup.”
