Tony Scott has ripped into certain Everton players for throwing Frank Lampard under the bus during their latest defeat, writes the TIF.
Everton have now lost back-to-back games across all competitions having shipped seven goals over that time, and last night’s Carabao Cup defeat was likely the worse of the two given they were thumped 4-1 after Lampard made 11 changes.
Lampard handed rare starts to players such as Tom Davies, James Garner and Ruben Vinagre and it totally backfired, with only Nathan Patterson earning higher than a 6/10 in the Liverpool Echo’s player ratings out of Everton’s starters.
Speaking on the All Together Now podcast, Scott slammed Everton players he feels have thrown Lampard under the bus, just like they have done with previous managers at the club.
Scott said: “He thought that this team that he put out against Bournemouth was well capable [of beating] Bournemouth – they made 10 or 11 changes themselves. And on paper, Everton should’ve wiped the floor with them.
“He can’t help it if these 1-11, who throw many, many managers under the bus – we’ve seen the likes of Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, Tom Davies – the list goes on, the amount of managers they’ve thrown under the bus, and they’re going to continue to do it.”
