Everton manager Frank Lampard has said his club has never come close to selling striker Anthony Gordon to Chelsea.
Shortly before the transfer window closed, Everton turned down Chelsea’s £40m offer for Gordon.
According to rumors, the Blues were ready to increase the amount to 60 million pounds, and Anthony himself asked the club to let him go to London.
However, Lampard says he had no intention of selling Gordon and the two clubs were never even close to a compromise.
“We are happy. I was quite calm throughout the whole time, because from the moment when the first conversations appeared, I understood very well what we want.”
“The deal has never been close, which is great because it shows what what we’re made of, and also speaks about the character of Anthony. We are moving on,” Lampard was quoted by the BBC.
