‘Impressing behind the scenes’ – Gold claims Spurs gem is now catching the eye at Hotspur Way

Alasdair Gold has claimed that summer signing Will Lankshear is impressing people behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur, writes the TIF.

Spurs were very active over the summer, especially early on, with the London-based side making eight signings in total which have allowed them to sit very nicely inside the top four during this winter World Cup break.

One signing that was hardly spoken about at the time was Lankshear who arrived from Sheffield United for a hefty fee given his age and Gold has now revealed after a slow start to his Spurs career, the striker is now starting to turn heads.

Gold tweeted out about the young striker who is believed to have the potential to become a ‘high level’ player for Tottenham.

‘A piece on a Spurs signing last summer who went under the radar somewhat compared to others that arrived but has been impressing behind the scenes.’

The Spurs ace is still only 17 years old so it could be a long time before Tottenham fans see him turning out on a regular basis in the first team, but to have someone waiting in the wings for when Harry Kane calls time on his career will be a great feeling within the club.

If indeed Lankshear does live up to the hype which is building within the Spurs training ground, then the club will be buzzing as they coughed up just £2m, something that may be seen as a bargain in years to come.

It appears that the Under 18 level is too easy and comfortable for Lankshear having already netted four goals in four appearances, so the step up into the Under 23s side could be the next thing, although Spurs have to be careful not to fast-track him too quickly given his age.
