West Ham will not have a large budget to spend in January but the board could find money to sign players on “bargain” deals, as reported by The West Ham Way, as relays the WHZ.
ExWHUemployee shared on 10 December that the Hammers could look to explore the loan market and could check out on players whose contracts are expiring.
The Hammers could look to bolster the centre-back areas while adding another striker cannot be ruled out.
“I have been told that the board could find money for players that both they and Moyes agree is a “bargain” and that players whose contracts are expiring may be explored too,” said Ex to The West Ham Way.
“The centre back situation could be interesting and will depend on whether Craig Dawson stays for the remainder of the season and the fitness of Kurt Zouma (unknown return date) and now Aguerd.
“There has also been talk of another forward potentially moving to the club. How much we have to spend will also depend on whether we can agree some player sales: Coufal, Lanzini, Vlasic, Masuaku and Randolph all potentially available to generate some cash.”
After spending over £150m in the summer transfer window, it is understandable that the Hammers will try to be parsimonious in the winter market.
The club can look to sign players on loan and on bargain deals, but they should aim to get money from players who are not in Moyes’s first-team plans.
The centre-back situation has become complicated following the injury to Kurt Zouma.
Craig Dawson wishes to stay close to his family, and his potential exit in January can’t be ruled out either.
The Hammers are also looking to sign a new right-back, which gives the indication that Vladimir Coufal is likely to be sold.
Ex says that the board could find the cash to sign players that Moyes sees as “bargain” and it gives the impression that his job is not under huge threat.
Dean Jones suggested on GiveMeSport that the next games for West Ham will determine Moyes’s future, but it feels like the Hammers are already planning ways to help Moyes to get good players in January.
