Antonio Conte has told Tottenham Hotspur’s website that Tottenham youngster Harvey White is an “intelligent” player that can play in “any role” – even as a no.9, after Spurs drew their final mid-season clash with French side Nice 1-1, writes the HITC.
White, 21, is yet to make a single senior appearance under Conte since the Italian took charge of Spurs. The ex-Inter and Juventus manager is renowned for preferring experience over youth and that is the case in young White’s example.
Nevertheless, White has been on the bench for six of Tottenham’s senior matches this season – five of which have been in the Champions League. His display against Nice, starting in the Harry Kane role, lasted 74 minutes on Wednesday.
It might have just shown Conte what he can do – and lead to more game time in the future. Indeed, Conte was full of praise for White following the match. Matt Doherty scored Tottenham’s goal, cancelled out by Nice’s Antoine Mendy.
“Harvey White played like a nine. He is a young player that I think is really, really intelligent, he can play in any role. I think the young players also deserved to have a night like this, for the Academy of Tottenham. It was a positive night.”
