Darren Bent believes it’s only a matter of time before Mauricio Pochettino returns to Tottenham Hotspur to become the club’s manager again, writes the TBR.
The Argentine spent over five years in North London and made Spurs regulars in the Champions League. He even led them to the final of the competition, but Daniel Levy sacked him just six months later.
Pochettino, branded as a ‘world-class’ manager by Jamie O’Hara, is without a job at the moment, and Bent thinks his Tottenham return is inevitable.
Antonio Conte joined Tottenham in November 2020 and he has done a remarkable job. However, the Italian’s contract expires at the end of this season, and his future is still up in the air.
Rumours have linked Conte with a return to Juventus on numerous occasions in recent months, which is a concern to Tottenham supporters. He is a fantastic manager, but if he doesn’t want to stay, Spurs should start to look elsewhere.
There are a few really good managers out there without a job at the moment. Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique jump to mind, while Roberto Martinez is an interesting shout as well.
However, the one name that is always around Tottenham is Pochettino, who has been out of a job since he was sacked by Paris Saint-Germain six months ago.
Bent feels he’ll be back at Tottenham sooner rather than later.
He said on talkSPORT Drive: “That one (Pochettino taking over the Tottenham job) feels almost inevitable.
“I think that one is going to happen, sooner rather than later.”
