Micah Richards has slammed Everton forward Anthony Gordon for conceding the foul that led to James Ward-Prowse’s winner for Southampton on Saturday.
The pressure is well and truly mounting on Everton and Frank Lampard now and just about everything that could go wrong is happening on the Blue half of Merseyside.
Richards blasted Gordon’s foul on the edge of the area which led to a free-kick. The ex-Manchester City defender also questioned the Everton star’s on-field behaviour.
“Terrible free kick to give away from Gordon,” said Richards live on Match of the Day (14 January, 28:52).
“The wrong side, he’s come off the bench, it looked like he was sulking a little bit.”
It’s starting to look like an absolute nightmare of a season for Everton yet again and problems in the upper echelons of the club are translating onto the pitch.
Things simply aren’t good enough at the moment and many of the team’s players shouldn’t be wearing the Blues shirt any longer.
It’s extremely hard to see where the club can go from here and Premier League safety has never looked less likely than it is now at Goodison Park.
Discontent was clear from the outset of the fixture, with banners and chants alike from fans scouring the terraces like an unwanted plague.
The fans, however, were behind the players until the final whistle, but one win in 13 games just isn’t good enough and major changes are needed.
There is a concerning lack of quality in this Blues side and with the January transfer window still open for business there must be some new signings brought into the squad.
