Danny Ings breaks silence on Aston Villa transfer as West Ham move confirmed

Danny Ings says he is ‘excited’ to start a new chapter in his career after leaving Aston Villa to join West Ham in a transfer deal worth £15 million, writes the BirminghamLive.

Unai Emery allowed Ings to leave his squad as the striker would have entered the final 12 months of his contract in the summer and this was the final window which Villa could recoup some of the £25 million they spent to bring him to the club in 2021.

Ings joined Villa from Southampton and went on to score 13 goals in 48 appearences for Villa. He will now help West Ham’s bid to avoid a relegation scrap this season.

“I’m really excited to join West Ham United,” said Ings. “It’s important I settle in as quickly as I can do – and do the important stuff on the pitch for West Ham.

“We’ve got some massive games ahead of us – and I’ve come here to try and score as many goals as I can to help the team to get some positive results. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

Hammers boss Moyes is looking forward to seeing the experienced striker join his squad and bolster his attacking options.

“I’m really pleased to add Danny to the squad,” he said. “He is a proven Premier League goalscorer and will add great competition for places in the attacking third.

“We’re looking forward to integrating him into the group, as we go into a busy period in our season.”
