‘Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up starting’ – Journalist thinks Conte will unleash ‘classy’ Spurs ace today

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Clement Lenglet is viewed as a really important player in Antonio Conte’s plans for the 2022/23 campaign, writes the TIF.

This is according to reliable Spurs correspondent Jack Pitt-Brooke, who has been speaking on the latest edition of The View From The Lane podcast.

Lenglet made his first start in the Premier League for the Lilywhites at the weekend having recently returned from an injury issue which has seen him bide his time on the bench.

This week is the beginning of Tottenham’s busy schedule where games come thick and fast with the start of the Champions League, leaving Conte with big rotational decisions to make.

And having impressed many on Saturday against Fulham and hailed “classy” by Hunter Godson of the Players’ Tribune, Pitt-Brooke believes Lenglet will be a player who Conte will look to utilise over the weeks to come.

He said: “I do get the impression that Conte thinks Lenglet is going to be really, really important for this season and is probably going to play quite a lot.

“He might end up playing as much as any of the new signings. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up starting at least as many games as [Yves] Bissouma, Richarlison and the rest.”
