Khvica Kvaratskhelia burst onto the scene in the Champions League this week with a starring performance against Liverpool, but what many may not know is the fact that he’s been starring in Serie A as well, writes the HITC.
The Georgian has scored four goals in his first five games over in Italy, and now he’s been awarded the club’s Player of the Month award at the first attempt.
The winger has been an absolute revelation for Napoli, and it surely won’t be long before he’s joining a truly elite European giant.
However, things could have gone rather differently for Kvaratskhelia as his agent admitted that the player actually turned down the chance to join Tottenham on loan last year.
“Khvicha had a preliminary contract with Juventus, but the club’s sports director Fabio Paratici left. If Fabio hadn’t left Juventus, Khvicha would have moved there,” His agent said.
“After Paratici left for Tottenham, they wanted to sign Kvicha on loan but we did not agree. The player himself was against the loan.”
Kvaratskhelia snubbed Spurs, and it really looks like the north London club have missed out on a gem here.
The 21-year-old is already lighting up both Serie A and the Champions League, and with a Real Madrid move now touted, this could be a player who is headed to the very top.
Fabio Paratici very rarely gets anything wrong in the transfer market, but it’s fair to say that he didn’t call this one correctly as Kvaratskhelia is a player that Spurs probably should’ve been going all-out for.
Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but this may well end up going down as one of Spurs’ biggest recent transfer errors as Kvaratskhelia looks like an absolute superstar already.
