Key Tottenham star with ‘huge influence this season’ withdraws from international squad due to injury

France have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur captain, Hugo Lloris, has now withdrawn from their international squad due to a thigh injury, writes the SpursWeb.

The Frenchman played between the sticks for Spurs at the weekend, as Conte’s side thrashed Leicester City 6-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Lloris was rather busy on the day, coming up with a couple of key saves, as well as saving a penalty – although it was retaken due to the 35-year-old being an inch off his line.

The club captain has started every match for Tottenham this season, although Spurs did sign Fraser Forster on a free transfer in the summer to deputise when needed.

Spurs are without any fixtures until the North London Derby on October 1, and Lloris will be hoping to overcome his thigh injury by then, although the extent of the problem is not mentioned in France’s press release.
