‘After my time’ – Benitez makes Everton point as he gives relegation battle prediction

According to Rafa Benitez, Everton will not be relegated this season, as he believes the fans can play an important role in helping the team avoid the drop, writes the LiverpoolEcho.

Nottingham Forest currently shares the same number of points with Sean Dyche’s team, which means they will need to win a similar number of games as they did last season to secure their place in the Premier League. Lampard was the one who saved Everton from the brink of relegation last season, taking over as manager in January 2022 after Benitez. Although there are more teams at risk of relegation this season, Everton remains in a precarious position.

Benitez believes that Dyche’s team has the potential to avoid relegation and save their Premier League status. Benitez told the Telegraph, “After my tenure, they have invested a significant amount of money, and they have a squad capable of escaping relegation. The fans played a crucial role last year, and they could do so again this year.” Although it has been more than a year since he was sacked from Goodison Park, the Spaniard is keeping an eye out for new opportunities in the Premier League.

“I have had several possibilities this season, but the conditions that I think are necessary were not there and I preferred to wait for another option. I have also had proposals from outside, but our preference has always been the Premier League.”
