Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has urged Everton fans to take reports linking Maurizio Sarri to the club with a “pinch of salt” following recent developments at Goodison Park. Italian media had suggested that Sarri could be lined up as a replacement for current manager Sean Dyche once the club’s prospective new owners, the Friedkin Group, complete their takeover from Farhad Moshiri.
According to Corriere dello Sport on 25 September, the Italian coach was among several names being considered for the position. However, Myers has downplayed the rumors, suggesting the new owners are solely focused on finalizing the acquisition of the club.
Taking to social media platform X on Wednesday (25 September), Myers wrote, “The focus is on the regulatory process, that’s what they’re concentrated on right now. There will be many, many stories. I’d take most if not all with a pinch of salt.”
While Sarri’s name continues to circulate in connection with Everton, Myers’ comments suggest that managerial changes are not currently a priority for the club’s potential new owners. Their immediate focus remains on completing the takeover process before making any significant decisions regarding the team.
