Everton are expected to make moves in the January transfer window as new ownership looms at Goodison Park, according to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers. Responding to fan inquiries on X (formerly Twitter) on 25 September, Myers confirmed that the Toffees will “for sure” be active in the winter market, with hopes of bolstering their squad amid a disappointing start to the season.
“We will spend for sure,” Myers wrote, doubling down on his belief that Everton will invest in reinforcements as American billionaire Dan Friedkin closes in on a takeover at the club.
Sean Dyche’s side has struggled in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, currently sitting 19th with just one point. The poor form has left fans frustrated, particularly after what many considered a promising summer transfer window, which included the £15.6 million signing of forward Iliman Ndiaye.
While expectations for the season were cautiously optimistic, Everton now find themselves once again in a relegation battle. Myers’ comments suggest that the club is aware of the need for immediate improvements to steer clear of the bottom three.
Everton’s January spending could be pivotal in turning their season around, with new ownership likely to bring fresh direction and ambition.
