‘All of those things are nonsense’ – Paul Brown reacts to criticism he’s heard of Everton star Calvert-Lewin

Journalist Paul Brown has told GiveMeSport that Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has faced unjustified criticism from some sections of the Goodison Park fanbase. Despite the appointment of new manager Sean Dyche, Calvert-Lewin has been unable to feature in the team’s last two matches due to fitness issues.

Calvert-Lewin aggravated a hamstring issue during the win over Arsenal earlier this month, and injury expert Ben Dinnery has suggested that Everton is taking every possible measure to prevent him from spending more time on the treatment table.

Although Calvert-Lewin has faced criticism from some pundits, Brown believes that the 25-year-old is eager to return to action and help Everton avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Brown told GiveMeSport: “I’ve heard a lot of criticism of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Various things have been said about him – too lazy, not pulling his weight and he doesn’t care enough.

“I think all of those things are nonsense, personally. I think he does care and he’s hurting just as much as everyone else. He wants to be out there playing every week.”
