‘Another half a dozen goals’ – David Moyes singles out West Ham star for praise

West Ham manager David Moyes has praised Jarrod Bowen and challenged him to achieve a new target, as relays the HammerNews.

The Hammers have not progressed as much as expected this season, and their over-reliance on Bowen, who has struggled to find his best form, is a major contributing factor. Bowen has attributed his early-season difficulties to the immense pressure he felt to perform flawlessly in order to be considered for England’s World Cup squad. However, he has regained his stride in the latter half of the campaign. Bowen has been the team’s most dependable and effective player thus far in 2023 and was named man of the match in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

As West Ham are fighting for their Premier League survival, their winger Jarrod Bowen has been tireless and impactful, but he has been struggling to find the back of the net in recent months. This lack of goals has been a concern for both him and David Moyes.

However, the situation changed when he scored a beautiful volley to earn a crucial and well-deserved point against Arsenal. Despite many players deserving recognition after the comeback, Moyes has praised Bowen’s performance and set him a very ambitious target for the remainder of the season.

Moyes said: “Look I think Jarrod in recent weeks has been the one who has been providing the assists for us,”

“He makes the goal last week against Fulham and even midweek he makes the goal. Overall I think he seems to be the one that’s making chances. What we’ve missed a little bit is his goals.

“(Against Arsenal) he gets on the end of one and finishes it which is great and what he wants to do. And hopefully if he can add another half a dozen goals between now and the end of the season that’d be great.”
