BBC Sport Pundit Suggests Everton Will Regret 2023 Player Sale

Paul Robinson emphasized Everton’s eagerness to re-sign Ellis Simms from Coventry City, stating they would do so “in a heartbeat” if given the chance.

The Toffees parted ways with the young striker, sending him to the Championship club in July 2023 for a reported £8 million, according to talkSPORT. With Everton facing difficulties in scoring goals this season, Robinson believes that Simms, currently with Coventry, would be a valuable addition to the squad.

“Everton would take Ellis Simms back into the squad in a heartbeat,” Robinson declared during an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live [21 April, 1:26pm], just ahead of the Nottingham Forest game.

“Everton in general are struggling to score. You look at their total for the season and there is only Sheffield United who have scored less than them in the season,” he added.

Simms, who played 12 Premier League games for Everton, managed to score one goal during his time at the club. His sole strike came in a memorable 2-2 draw against Chelsea in the second half of last season.

This momentous goal followed Simms’ recall from a loan spell with Sunderland, where he displayed impressive form during his short-term stint.
