Thiago Silva is open to extending his stay with Chelsea beyond the end of the season, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter.
The experienced centre-back has been a revelation under the stewardship of Thomas Tuchel.
His contact does have a little over six months remaining though and Chelsea want him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
It would seem as though the Brazilian is keen to stick in London too. Romano claims he loves the club, the fans and the atmosphere within the dressing room.
Furthermore, Thomas Tuchel has a splendid relationship with the defender and he’s keen to show some loyalty.
Silva is 37 but has kept himself in great shape and has made seven Premier League starts this season.
He checked in at Chelsea from PSG in 2020 and in his maiden season helped the club claim the Champions League title.
Silva is a positive influence in the dressing room and it’s easy to see why Tuchel is keen to keep him around the club.
Chelsea are fighting for more silverware this season and his performances have still been of a good standard.
Supporters would have no qualms about seeing Silva stick at the club and they’ll hope Romano’s claim is proved to be correct.
