Amidst the excitement of Dan Friedkin’s takeover at Everton, speculation about the future of manager Sean Dyche has resurfaced, with some rumors linking former Toffees boss David Moyes to a potential return. Despite Dyche still retaining the backing of key decision-makers, talk of a managerial change continues to swirl.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has weighed in on the matter, cautioning against the idea of bringing Moyes back to Goodison Park. Speaking to talkSPORT, Wyness acknowledged Moyes’ successful tenure but advised against looking backward.
“Well, it’s always difficult in football to go back,” Wyness said. “Yes, David and I probably had the most successful period in Everton’s history this century, which we are obviously very proud of, but it would be difficult to go back. And I think that may be a mistake.”
Wyness emphasized the need for Everton to embrace a new vision under Friedkin’s ownership. “With a new owner, new vision, I think it’s time to move forward. It’s not the worst option by any means, but I think there might be some need to try and move forward and have a fresh start in a new stadium,” he added.
As Everton enters a new era with fresh leadership, the future of the manager remains a hot topic, with the club’s direction under Friedkin likely to shape key decisions in the months ahead.
