Danny Mills makes claim about Son Heung-min ahead of Harry Kane
Former Leeds United defender, Danny Mills has claimed that Son Heung-min is Tottenham’s most important player ahead of Harry Kane.
Son has improved every year since arriving in North London from the Bundesliga during the summer of 2015.
Over the last two to three seasons, the South Korean has been up there with the best-attacking players in the league, often helping to carry the side in Kane’s absence.
He seems to have gone up another level again this campaign as the forward has started the season on-fire in front of goal.
The 28-year-old is currently joint top of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League, with eight efforts to date.
Seven of those goals have been set up by Kane, with the duo seeming to have taken their partnership to the next level.
In some ways, their roles have been reversed this season, with Kane dropping into midfield and looking to pick out Son’s runs in behind the opposition defence.
Speaking about Son, Mills told Racing Post: “He is the first name on the teamsheet. He is outstanding.
“Yes (before Kane) because his work rate, you know what you are going to get week in week out.
“Harry Kane has had one or two injuries at times. If Son’s fit, he has got to play because his energy levels are superb, what he gives for the team.”
