David Moyes has singled out two players who have been brilliant for West Ham this season

West Ham United’s remarkable ascent to the top echelons of the Premier League this season has been punctuated by standout performances from James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen, writes the TBR. Manager David Moyes recently took the time to applaud the duo’s outstanding contributions during an interview with talkSPORT. While the topic of their absence from the latest England squad arose, Moyes refrained from delving into the selection debate but couldn’t help but praise Ward-Prowse and Bowen for their exceptional early-season form.

The Hammers have been the surprise package of the Premier League this season, currently occupying a top-four spot behind powerhouses Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool. Their impressive victories over Chelsea and Brighton have catapulted them into the limelight, with James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen playing pivotal roles in their early-season success.

Both players have already notched up four goal involvements in as many Premier League appearances, a feat that has not gone unnoticed by their manager.

During his talkSPORT interview, David Moyes was asked about the exclusion of Ward-Prowse and Bowen from the latest England squad. While the Hammers’ boss refrained from wading into the selection debate, he couldn’t help but express his admiration for the duo’s form.

Moyes stated, “Well, I wouldn’t want to be picking the England squad because they’ve got that many good players, an abundance of players they’ve gone to at the moment. The selection issues the manager must have is hard enough for himself. But I’m sure both of them were knocking at the door, they must have been very close because their form has been very good.”

He went on to highlight their contributions, saying, “Jarrod had a chance of it last year but again, he’s started the season very well with his goals. James has come in and settled in brilliantly well. But probably no more than we hoped, and I think having players with Premier League experience, it’s a bit easier for them to come in and get started well.”

James Ward-Prowse made a significant move to West Ham United over the summer, transitioning from Southampton. The 28-year-old midfielder has seamlessly integrated into the squad, playing a crucial role in filling the void left by the absence of Declan Rice.

On the other hand, Jarrod Bowen has reignited his scoring prowess this season, emerging as a genuine threat for the Hammers. Both players have been instrumental in West Ham’s impressive run and have showcased their ability to deliver consistently.

While it’s still early days in terms of Ward-Prowse and Bowen’s prospects of returning to the England squad, their current form suggests that they could be strong contenders. If they continue to shine for West Ham United, it may become increasingly difficult for England manager Gareth Southgate to overlook their contributions.

As West Ham United continues its remarkable journey in the Premier League, the performances of James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen are sure to be closely monitored by fans and pundits alike. Their aspirations of representing their country on the international stage may well become a reality if they maintain their stellar form.
