Everton £27 million man could leave this summer with two clubs keeping an eye

Yerry Mina’s departure from Everton as a free agent at the end of the season is becoming more likely, with no indications yet of a contract extension being offered to him, as relays the PRT.

The Colombian defender was signed from Barcelona in 2018 for a fee of about £27 million and given a high-paying contract of £120,000 per week, but he has struggled with injuries and has been unavailable for long periods of time throughout his four years at the club.

This season, Mina has only played in three Premier League matches due to an ankle injury and is currently overlooked as James Tarkowski and Conor Coady are the preferred central defenders.

When he is available, Mina is a reliable defender who adds stability and confidence to the backline due to his towering presence. However, his constant battle with injuries has made it difficult for him to stay fit, and some argue that he has not justified his high salary of £120,000 per week.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it is unlikely that Mina will be offered a new deal by Everton. Atletico Mineiro are reportedly monitoring his situation and could make a move for him on a free transfer in the summer. Palmeiras are also said to be interested in signing him.

Meanwhile, Everton are considering triggering Conor Coady’s £4.5 million buy clause to sign him permanently, indicating that they are prepared to let Mina go. The Toffees have several other options at center-back, including Ben Godfrey, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, and Jarrad Branthwaite, who is impressing on loan at PSV.
