Scotland’s national football team manager, Steve Clarke, has named Nathan Patterson in his 23-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Cyprus and Spain, writes the LiverpoolWorld.
Although the right-back hasn’t played for Everton since sustaining a medial ligament injury in January, he has featured three times for the club’s under-21s in recent weeks. Despite Blues boss Sean Dyche suggesting that Patterson was still not entirely match-fit, his inclusion in Scotland’s squad implies that he could be ready to make a comeback for Everton in their Premier League clash with Chelsea this Saturday.
Under former manager Frank Lampard, Patterson has played 12 times for Everton this season. In addition to Patterson, Everton supporters will be looking forward to the return of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Stamford Bridge.
Calvert-Lewin has been out of action for the past six games due to a hamstring problem. Although the England international returned to training last week, Dyche did not think he had enough preparation to be ready for a Premier League match. However, if Calvert-Lewin has a full week of uninterrupted training at Finch Farm, he may be fit enough to be included in the squad for the upcoming match and could be seen on the bench.
