Everton inquire about 26-year-old free agent attacker – Fabrizio Romano

Everton have received information regarding the terms of a potential contract for Moussa Dembele ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, writes the Everton.News.

The 26-year-old “powerful” forward is currently a free agent after completing his five-year contract with Lyon in France, and there are reports of interest from Everton as well as other clubs, including Galatasaray from Turkey and unidentified Saudi Arabian clubs, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano tweeted that Dembele has been approached by multiple clubs following his departure from Lyon, with Everton and Galatasaray both being aware of the contract conditions. Meanwhile, Saudi clubs are also monitoring the situation surrounding the player.

The possibility of Dembele joining Everton has been rumored since January, and this summer could present an opportunity for the club to make a move for the forward. Acquiring a player of his caliber on a free transfer would be a fantastic piece of business for Everton, provided that manager Sean Dyche can convince Dembele to join the club.

Everton has struggled to score goals, with only 34 in the Premier League last season. Neal Maupay, signed for £15 million, was unable to adequately fill in for the frequently injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Dembele has a proven track record in France, scoring 56 league goals in 129 games. Although he had a relatively poor season last year, finding the net only three times in 23 appearances, his impressive performance of 21 goals in 30 league games during the 2021/22 campaign suggests that his form dip may have been temporary.

With his combination of speed, strength, and goal-scoring ability, Dembele could be the type of forward that Everton has been lacking recently. Securing his services on a free transfer would also allow Sean Dyche to allocate more funds to strengthen other areas of the squad.
