Everton keen on £13.5 million man who could be available for a bargain price

Sean Longstaff is open to extending his deal at Newcastle which expires this summer amid links with Everton, according to the Chronicle.

The report claims that the Toffees retain an interest in signing the 24-year-old whose deal expires this summer.

It’s also understood that Newcastle are willing to open talks over an extension as he can start pre-contract agreement negotiations with a foreign club in January and sign him for free in the summer.

There is a chance that he may want to leave as he’s down in the final months of his deal and still hasn’t extended it.

With the Saudi-led takeover, the Magpies are going to invest heavily over the coming years and Longstaff may fall further down the pecking order at St. James’ Park.

Everton can offer him a perfect exit route and ensure that he plays regularly.

This would help him get better individually and also put him in contention for the England national squad.

His ex-coach Gary Bowyer waxed his lyrical and his quotes were included in an article written in the Guardian in 2019.

He said, “He has this unbelievable knack of scoring, often from long range. He’s got a fantastic engine and fitness, and his knowledge of the game is very good. He did brilliantly for Blackpool.”

Should the Toffees get the player he’s talking about, the Goodison Park faithful are in for a treat.
