Everton looking to raid Premier League rivals for 23-year-old defender

Everton is showing interest in signing Ben Johnson from West Ham United. As reports the COS, a 23-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order at West Ham and is seeking regular playing time elsewhere, having made only eight league starts this season, with his last Premier League appearance dating back to March.

A report from Football Insider suggests that Everton rates Johnson highly and considers him a valuable addition to their team. Johnson is a versatile player who can play both as a full-back and a central defender on either flank, making him a potentially solid, long-term investment for the Toffees.

Although Johnson is under contract with West Ham until 2024, the London club is willing to sell him this summer instead of losing him for free next year. Everton aims to improve their team during the upcoming summer transfer window after a disappointing campaign, with a push to secure a place in the top half.

With his established presence in the Premier League, Johnson could be a valuable and astute addition to Everton, potentially making an immediate impact at Goodison Park. As a 23-year-old player, he is eager to demonstrate his skills on a regular basis in the Premier League and could contribute to Everton’s defensive improvement.

However, Everton is currently struggling in 19th place in the league standings, and their priority is to avoid relegation, which could be a factor in attracting players like Johnson. As a player with experience at this level, he may not be enthusiastic about playing in the Championship next season.
