Everton make approach to sign Serie A forward whose release clause expires after 15 July

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Everton, along with West Ham and Burnley, are among several Premier League clubs interested in signing Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia this summer, relays the GoodisonNews. The Italian newspaper reported that these clubs have approached Salernitana to inquire about Dia’s availability, while Serie A clubs Roma, Lazio, Napoli, and Fiorentina may also be interested in making a move for the striker.

Dia has a release clause in his contract that becomes active when he reaches his 15th Serie A goal of the season, making him available for just over £21 million until July 15. The Senegalese striker had an impressive campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists, which played a crucial role in guiding his team to safety. Dia initially joined Salernitana on loan from Villarreal last summer, with a reported buy option of £10.2 million that Salernitana is expected to activate.

Everton’s need for striking reinforcements is well known, as their lack of goals last season nearly resulted in relegation. With only 34 goals, they had the second-lowest total in the Premier League and the lowest among teams in the bottom seven. Although Sean Dyche’s defensive displays ultimately secured their safety, he will not want a repeat of the same struggles next season and aims to compete higher up the table.

Therefore, bringing in a striker like Dia could be the ideal solution. His 16 league goals last season accounted for almost half of Everton’s total in the Premier League, and despite the difference in league quality, his numbers suggest that he is worth the £20 million investment.
