Everton may take drastic action to avoid paying Spurs for Dele Alli

According to a report from Football Insider, Everton are reportedly planning to pay off the remainder of Dele Alli’s contract to avoid paying a large fee to Tottenham, relays the SpursWeb.

Alli has struggled to make an impact since his loan move to Besiktas last summer, with only 13 appearances for the Turkish club all season. He was recently accused by head coach Senol Gunes of going AWOL after taking permitted time off, and has not been part of the club’s last four matchday squads. Gunes said last month that they were trying to locate Alli after he failed to return from a small break they had permitted him.

After being pictured with gas canisters and a balloon in his mouth, Dele Alli’s woes continue as he is reportedly flying back to England due to a muscle problem. Everton’s medical staff are set to examine him. However, according to Football Insider, Besiktas is not expected to trigger the £6.9m permanent clause in their loan deal, which now creates a fresh headache for Everton over the midfielder’s future.

The report explains that clauses worth up to £40m were included in the deal that brought Alli to Goodison Park on a free transfer from Tottenham in January last year. In order to prevent these clauses from being triggered, Everton may have to pay off Alli’s contract this summer, as per Football Insider.
