Everton attacker Richarlison has praised Rafa Benitez and says the Spaniard is the right man to take the club forward.
The Toffees have taken just two points from their last five Premier League matches, with The Mirror suggesting that Benitez is among the most likely managers in the top flight to face the sack.
The Merseyside outfit travel to current champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon in what is likely to be one of their toughest games of the season.
Ahead of the match, Richarlison has placed his full confidence in Benitez in an interview with Everton’s official website.
“Rafa Benitez has been great for me,” the Brazilian said. “I am playing in a more central position and I like the responsibility of scoring and creating goals.
“When you appoint a manager with Rafa’s track record it shows the ambition of a club. I think he can be important for my career and improve me as a player.
“With his experiences at other big clubs and winning mentality and quality and detail on the training ground, he has everything required to make our season go well.”
Despite Everton’s poor run of form, it appears that the players are still fully behind Rafa Benitez at the moment.
The Spaniard was not a popular appointment with supporters due to his Liverpool connections, but as Richarlison highlights, the Toffees dressing room will have been excited to work under such an experienced manager.
Benitez has managed at clubs such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter Milan and of course won the Champions League while at Liverpool.
However, it will be what he does at Goodison Park that matters most over the coming weeks as he aims to return to winning ways.
Meanwhile, Richarlison is clearly enjoying being Everton’s talisman in the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Brazilian has started as the lone striker in the last two matches, having spent much of last season under Carlo Ancelotti playing on the left wing.
