Everton star refused to 100% commit himself to the club hinting at possible exit

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has revealed that while he remains committed to the club, he can’t predict his future, adding that international breaks provide a unique experience of playing with high-quality players, writes the SW. Speaking ahead of his international duties with La Capitale, Onana discussed his growing career and the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Onana’s impressive performances have made him a standout player since joining Everton from Lille in the previous summer. Under the management of both Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche, he has become an integral part of the Everton squad. His contributions have also extended to the international stage, playing a significant role under manager Domenico Tedesco.

The young midfielder has not gone unnoticed, as transfer rumors have swirled around him since January, with reported interest from Chelsea. Even in the summer, Manchester United was linked to Onana, but ultimately, no move transpired. Both clubs decided to bolster their midfield with other signings.

Despite the transfer speculations and Everton’s ongoing financial struggles, Onana has maintained his focus on Everton. However, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of his future lying elsewhere.

Onana stated, “I’m not going to say that it (international duty) is my main source of motivation because I take very seriously the task that I have with Everton, namely, to help the club to survive. But I must admit that this change in atmosphere and finding a team with high-quality players changes the mood. Mentally, it does me a lot of good.”

When asked if he envisions playing for Everton throughout the season, Onana replied, “That was my goal at the start of the season. But like I said, I don’t have a crystal ball. I am not able to tell you what will happen in the future. For the moment, I remain 100% focused on my performance on the pitch. This is what will determine my future and that of the club.”

As Onana continues to shine both for Everton and on the international stage, his future remains uncertain. Everton fans will hope that he continues to contribute significantly while the club navigates its financial challenges.
