Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham are in talks with two key stars

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, as relayed by Football.london, reputed journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are intent on handing new contracts to both Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min.

Lloris has been with the club since 2012 and has been an integral part of our rise over the last half-a-decade. The 33-year-old club captain has made 337 appearances so far, managing a total of 115 clean sheets in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)

An integral member of Jose Mourinho’s side, Lloris has a contract with the club that runs till the summer of 2022. And while he will be closing in on 35 years old by the time, Tottenham are keen on extending his contract beyond that, the report claims.

Apart from Lloris, the club is also working on a deal for in-form attacker Son Heung-min as well, according to Romano. Jose Mourinho had earlier insisted that he wants the 28-year-old South Korean international to extend his stay at the club, even though his current contract runs till 2023. (h/t Football.london)

“I would love [him to sign a new contract]. Son has three years of contract, so it’s not like we’re in an extreme situation of everybody being worried. It’s more that Son loves it here, I believe that he would like to commit his future to the club for a long time.”

Son has made a scintillating start to the campaign and along with Harry Kane, has been one of the main driving forces behind our ascent to the top of the Premier League table. A new contract for him, given his current standing at the club, should be a no-brainer.

The same goes for Lloris as well. Agreed that he is not getting any younger, but the experience and the leadership he brings are invaluable. So, having him at the club for as long as he can play at this level should be an easy decision.
