Football reporter: New claim players tired of Moyes ‘prehistoric’ management

The Guardian writer Jacob Steinberg has written an interesting article about West Ham and their manager, David Moyes.

With the club’s recent thrashing by Brighton deepening relegation fears, Moyes is now facing a battle to quell the growing discontent within his squad, as relays the Claret&Hugh.

Despite the board’s support, some players are reportedly weary of Moyes’ prehistoric management style, which was exemplified by his 5-3-2 formation against Tottenham. While recent draws with Newcastle and Chelsea offered some hope, the team’s inability to build on their win over Forest and their poor performance against Brighton have caused frustration among players and fans alike.

Even club captain Declan Rice expressed his disappointment after the Brighton game. Steinberg notes that part of the frustration stems from the fact that West Ham spent more than £160m last summer in an attempt to challenge for Champions League qualification, yet many of the signings have failed to impress and injuries have made it difficult for Moyes to find a consistent starting lineup.

Nonetheless, West Ham will hope to shift the mood when they play AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League on Thursday and Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
