Former Everton defender Michael Ball has praised new signing Iliman Ndiaye, calling the forward “unpredictable” and a player who gets fans excited every time he touches the ball.
The 24-year-old Senegalese forward joined Everton from Marseille this summer as part of manager Sean Dyche’s efforts to strengthen the team’s attacking options. Since his arrival, Ndiaye has quickly cemented his place in the starting lineup, playing a key role in Everton’s recent 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
While Dwight McNeil’s brace sealed the win, it was Ndiaye’s performance that left a lasting impression on Ball. Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Ball highlighted how Ndiaye’s dynamic style and versatility make him a nightmare for defenders and a thrill for the fans.
“We know what McNeil is going to do,” Ball explained. “I think everyone said ‘shoot’ before he even got the ball because we know he has the quality to find that corner. But when Iliman Ndiaye gets the ball, you don’t have a clue what he’s going to do with it.”
Ball emphasized Ndiaye’s unpredictability on the field, noting that the forward can attack from multiple angles. “He can go left, right, or through the middle, and it’s exciting. As fans, it gets us on our feet,” he said.
Ndiaye’s ability to play the full 90 minutes was another positive takeaway for Ball, who believes the forward’s energy and skill make him a difficult opponent for tired defenders.
“He’s had a fantastic start, and it’s great to see him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes because the last thing tired defenders want to face is a tricky winger,” Ball added.
As Everton look to build on their first win of the season, Ball suggested that the team must continue to support Ndiaye and maximize his potential. “We need to finish teams off and help Ndiaye be the shining light,” he said.
