Gareth Bale sends message to Sergio Reguilon following winner against Brighton
Gareth Bale made it a habit of scoring match winners during his first spell at Tottenham and the Welshman was at it again on Sunday as he came off the bench to score the home side’s all-important second goal in their 2-1 win over Brighton.
Bale would have been relieved to get off the mark in front of goal after his return to North London, especially after missing a golden chance against West Ham two weeks ago.
The 31-year-old came under a bit of criticism after his lacklustre display against Royal Antwerp on Thursday but he gave everyone a reminder of what he was capable of against Brighton.
Bale had an instant impact after replacing Erik Lamela in the 70th minute as his former Real Madrid teammate, Sergio Reguilon floated in a beautiful cross, which the winger met with a well-placed header.
Bale joked after the game to Spurs TV that it was a poor cross by Reguilon that he made into a good one.
He has now taken to social media to thank the Spaniard for his assist, as he reacted to a ‘How it started – how it’s going’ post from the left-back.
