Tim Sherwood has discussed the potential of a player swap between West Ham United’s Declan Rice, who is a transfer target for Arsenal, and Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, writes the HITC.
There have been rumors of Rice leaving West Ham this summer, especially after helping the team win the Europa Conference League, and Arsenal is reportedly leading the race for his signature, with West Ham’s chairman indicating that Rice has played his last game for the club.
However, Sam Allardyce introduced an interesting twist by suggesting that Rice could join Manchester City instead of Arsenal during an episode of the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast.
During the conversation, the possibility of a player exchange was raised, and Tim Sherwood mentioned Kalvin Phillips as the obvious choice. Phillips recently joined Manchester City from Leeds United for a fee of £42 million in the summer transfer window, as reported by Sky Sports.
Sherwood described the potential swap as a “great move,” but he also acknowledged that Pep Guardiola is likely to provide Phillips with an opportunity to succeed next season, considering the limited game time he had this term.
He said (on Phillips to West Ham): “Love it. Great move.”
Allardyce added: “If I know Moyesey, then there would have to be a player in the deal for him. It would then be easier for the club that is buying him. It would be over £100 million in total. But it would be so much under that player. That player would be valued at that, which would take it over £100 million. And David would get somebody he really needed.”
