“Happy camp” – 26-year-old changes his mind about joining Chelsea at the last minute, now wants to sign

Chelsea have reportedly managed to persuade Saul Niguez he will be offered the chance at regular football if he leaves Atletico Madrid, writes the Chelsea Chronicle.

This is according to 90min, who claim Saul’s head has been turned by the Blues convincing speech about earning a fair crack within Thomas Tuchel’s team.

90min stated a few days ago that the Spaniard was reluctant to join the Champions League holders due to uncertainties over the amount of game time he would earn.

Central midfield is already well-stocked at Stamford Bridge, thanks to N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic’s combination.

They are Tuchel’s trusted trio and one that is very difficult to unhinge.

However, it seems the Chelsea chain of command have reassured Saul he won’t simply be the fourth pick behind the three stalwarts.

Tuchel made a very decent attempt to keep all his players reasonably happy last season, by constantly rotating and reshuffling the starting XI.

Unfortunately, one man who didn’t enjoy the full flux of his manager’s accommodation was Callum Hudson-Odoi.

He originally looked set to feature heavily as an unorthodox wing-back, but that impression quickly faded.

Since Tuchel’s takeover in January, the 20-year-old has started just 12 games across all competitions.

Hudson-Odoi was an unused substitute in all three of Chelsea’s opening Premier League fixtures of the new campaign.

The once shining pupil of Cobham’s school is now on the radar of Borussia Dortmund, who want to sign him on loan.

His potential departure could well depend on Saul’s situation, as Tuchel is not sold on the idea of losing a member of his team without reinforcements.
