Football pundit Harry Redknapp has weighed in on Everton’s struggles, predicting they will be embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle this season, regardless of any changes. Redknapp also voiced his support for current manager Sean Dyche, urging the club to keep him in charge.
Everton have had a dismal start to the season, having lost all four of their Premier League matches and suffering an early exit from the EFL Cup, falling to Southampton on Tuesday, September 17. The club is winless in its last three games across all competitions, despite taking the lead in each, including two 2-0 advantages.
During an interview on talkSPORT on September 18, Redknapp was asked whether Everton should consider replacing Dyche. He responded emphatically, “Absolutely not.” He added, “Go through their managers—[Carlo] Ancelotti was one of them and couldn’t do anything. The team is not good enough. It’s a great football club, but at the moment, they have an average team.”
Redknapp emphasized the club’s need to focus on survival this season, pointing out their upcoming stadium move as a crucial turning point. “They need to survive this year, get into the new stadium, and then bring in better players. With that group, they are definitely in a relegation battle,” he concluded.
Despite their struggles, Redknapp’s support for Dyche suggests that stability may be the key for Everton as they look to navigate another difficult season.
