Harry Winks opens up on what Tottenham must do now after Gareth Bale’s return
Harry Winks believes there is pressure on Tottenham to start winning trophies after the arrival of Gareth Bale.
Bale has returned to north London after seven years at Real Madrid, joining on a season-long loan deal.
And while he is out until after the October international break with an injury, his arrival at Spurs has given everyone a lift.
That’s according to midfielder Winks, who said in today’s press conference: “To have Gareth coming back to Tottenham after what he’s done it gives everyone a boost and yes with the squad we’ve got now we need to be winning trophies.”
“I would say that in the last five or six years we’ve increased massively in stature. Around the world Tottenham are looked at in a different way now and to have Gareth [Bale] come back after the successful career he’s achieved at Madrid and what he did for Tottenham in the first place it’s a massive boost and he’s going to be an incredible player to come into the dressing room with all of his experience.
“With all of the players we’ve got already and the squad we’ve got, it’s now important to put the results on the pitch and the performance in and showing exactly how good a team we can be.
