‘He has to’ – Chris Sutton reacts to the recent news about 41-year-old Moyes replacement

Chris Sutton believes that Michael Carrick has performed well as Middlesbrough’s coach, relays the HITC. Some fans have suggested that Carrick could take over from David Moyes at West Ham United, but Sutton believes that Moyes should be allowed to see out the season despite the pressure he is under. If West Ham were to make a change at this late stage, Carrick’s name has been mentioned as a popular option.

Back in October, the 41-year-old was appointed as the Middlesbrough manager when they were just one point above the relegation zone in the Championship. However, they have since made significant progress and are now in contention for automatic promotion to the Premier League, with only seven games left to play.

However, their hopes suffered a setback following their loss to Huddersfield, and Carrick was asked about the vacant manager position at Crystal Palace. Recently, a West Ham United fan suggested to Chris Sutton that Moyes should be replaced, and Carrick’s name came up as a potential candidate. Sutton responded to this during his appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“Michael Carrick has done a really good job at Middlesbrough,” said Sutton. “You have got a guy, who has been around the block in David Moyes, who has had a wonderful managerial career.

“You see how tight it is at the bottom of the league, then surely he has the chance to see the season through.

“But if they lose (to Southampton), then it could turn ugly.”
