Everton manager Sean Dyche has given his assessment of Demarai Gray’s display in the match against Nottingham Forest, as well as discussing how Neal Maupay has reacted to being dropped for the 2-2 draw.
Gray was selected to lead the line for Everton and managed to score the opening goal of the game from the penalty spot. Despite Forest equalising twice, Dyche was pleased with Gray’s efforts and suggested that he had adapted well to the team’s requirements.
Dyche now faces a decision on who to start up front for the upcoming game against Brentford, with Gray and Maupay both in contention.
However, Dyche noted that Maupay had taken his omission from the team without any disappointment.
In today’s press conference, Dyche said: “Neal Maupay has worked great in training this week, he has got on with it, no disappointment there… Demarai showed signs of what he can do. He nicked himself a goal, albeit from the penalty spot, and I enjoyed his open-mindedness to it. He’s played there before, but it’s not always that familiar to him, and I thought he delivered a good performance.”
