In a recent interview with Italian outlet Calciomercato, Stefano Antonelli, the agent of Destiny Udogie, has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is keen on incorporating the talented left-back into his plans for the upcoming season, writes the THAB.
Despite signing for Tottenham from Udinese last season, the 20-year-old prodigy spent the previous campaign on loan at his former club. However, it now seems that Udogie is finally poised to make the switch to North London this summer.
Udogie’s agent, Stefano Antonelli, recently verified this news and expressed his client’s excitement about the opportunity to showcase his skills under Postecoglou’s guidance. The Italian under-21 international holds a high reputation in the eyes of the new Tottenham manager, who is willing to provide him with a chance to prove himself.
Having secured Udogie’s services for a fee of £15 million, Tottenham intends to include him in their squad for the pre-season tour in Thailand. With the absence of a fixed left-back option in the team, Destiny Udogie has a genuine opportunity to make the position his own.
Antonelli shed light on the situation and shared his thoughts on the plans for his client. The agent revealed that he received a call from the head of the technical department at Tottenham, expressing their desire to have Udogie join the team for the Thailand tour. The club emphasized the player’s significance and assured Antonelli of their commitment to his development.
“Udogie’s story is clear. He’s from Tottenham and we’ve also had contacts in the last few days because they’ve changed the management, the coach, and because they’ll play 4-3-3 and no longer 3-5-2. Postecoglou is convinced of Udogie’s space, but the Italians are calling because some think he needs another step, perhaps in an Italian top club such as Juventus, AC Milan or Inter Milan.”
