‘I am under contract with Everton’ – Everton player reiterates transfer desire amid successful loan spell

Last summer, Jarrad Branthwaite was loaned out to PSV Eindhoven from Everton, with the transfer facilitated by Marcel Brands, who was then at Everton as Director of Football, writes the SW.

Brands had signed Branthwaite for the Toffees in 2020, and convinced the young defender to make the move to Eredivisie on loan. Branthwaite himself mentioned this in an interview with NOS, saying that Brands had sent messages to him through his agent before he joined PSV.

Branthwaite has performed well at the Dutch club and has attracted the attention of manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has publicly urged the club to keep him beyond this season. Branthwaite has expressed interest in staying at PSV next season despite having a contract with Everton until 2025.

Branthwaite admitted that PSV manager has sent messages to him through his agent: “He sent that he wanted me here. PSV are a huge club and were already playing in the Champions League and Europa League. I find it difficult to say whether I would have played here without Brands. In any case, he has had a lot of influence on my arrival.”

Branthwaite added: “I am open to something in Eindhoven. But I am under contract with Everton, which is also a fantastic club. I will go back there after this season and we will see what my decision will be.”

He also said that he has a short conversation with Sean Dyche: “That was just after he signed with the club. He especially wanted to introduce himself and asked me how I am doing and how things are here at PSV. It was a personal conversation, which I really appreciate.”
