The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has taken to social media to reveal that Tottenham Hotspur are optimistic of completing the signing of Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.
As SpursWeb reports, the young defender has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances for club and county over the last few years and has been tipped to achieve big things in the future (Sky Sports).
Some Spurs fans on social media are sceptical of whether the 22-year-old is the answer to the team’s issues at centre-back, given his lack of experience in the top-flight.
However, it looks as though fans may get an idea of the defender’s ability later this evening, with Kilpatrick revealing that Rodon is expected to start in the heart of the Wales defence for their international friendly against England.
While the journalist did suggest that the North Londoners were confident of getting a deal for the Swansea man over the line before the October 16 deadline, he did admit that the two clubs were still quite far apart in their valuations of the defender as things stand.
#thfc Told talks between Spurs & Swansea are still ongoing over Rodon but clubs are still some way apart and nothing is imminent. With over a week until Oct 16 deadline, there’s optimism it’ll be done but no urgency yet.
