‘It’s a great club. I’m sad’ – Everton loanee announces summer departure

Reuben Vinagre has bid farewell to Everton. The left-back arrived at Goodison Park on loan from Sporting Lisbon at the beginning of the 2022-23 season. Unfortunately, Vinagre faced limited playing time due to being overshadowed by Vitalii Mykolenko in the team hierarchy, writes the LiverpoolWorld.

During his time at Everton, the former Wolves player only made four appearances and was sidelined with an injury during the crucial stage of the season when the club secured their Premier League survival.

Although there were reports suggesting that Everton had the opportunity to secure Vinagre’s permanent transfer, it appears that the club has chosen not to exercise that option.

Vinagre said: “Thank you Evertonians! It has been a pleasure wearing this shirt for the past season! I’m sad for not having the opportunity to contribute more, but I’ve done everything I was allowed to. I wish our history would’ve been different!

“I’m really glad that we were able to maintain this big club in the Premier League, because you deserve it and so much more! I have no doubt in my mind that Everton will go back to the place that it deserves, it’s a great club and full of history! Thank you all, wish you all the best.”
