‘It’s a shift’ – Demarai Gray shares verdict on playing under the guidance of Sean Dyche

Demarai Gray, the Everton forward, has pledged to give his all in his new position as centre-forward under the guidance of manager Sean Dyche, reports the GN.

Gray, who has previously played predominantly as a winger at his former clubs Birmingham, Leicester, Bayer Leverkusen, and his current side Everton, has been given a different role in recent matches due to a shortage of central options in the final third. Dyche has turned to Gray to fill this void successfully.

Gray stated, “It’s a shift. I’m enjoying it. For me, it’s just about being on the pitch, trying to help the boys and contribute where I can. I always try to contribute with goals and assists, but it’s about working hard wherever I’m asked to play. Whatever role I’m given, I’m going to give 100%,” as per the official Everton website.

Demarai Gray has been utilized as a central player for the third consecutive match by Dyche, with his tireless performance throughout the entire 90 minutes against Chelsea. Even though Ellis Simms was the hero with his late equalizer, Gray appreciates the opportunity his manager gave him to start in such crucial matches. Gray has secured a spot in the starting XI after Neal Maupay’s departure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s continued absence due to injuries this season.

The Toffees are now unbeaten in their last three matches, with Gray playing an important role in each, including scoring a penalty in the Nottingham Forest draw. With Calvert-Lewin still not fully recovered, Gray is likely to lead the line in the upcoming significant games against Tottenham and Manchester United, although young Simms has a case to make following his goal against Chelsea.
