‘It’s risk and reward scenario’ – Dyche provides Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Vitalii Mykolenko injury news

Ahead of Everton’s upcoming match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, manager Sean Dyche provided an update on the fitness of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and left-back Vitalii Mykolenko, writes the Liverpool Echo.

Dyche expressed optimism regarding Calvert-Lewin’s chances of playing at Molineux, stating that he had shown positive signs and would be joining the team in training again the following day. However, the news was less encouraging concerning the Ukrainian international Mykolenko, with Dyche indicating that his availability was less certain. When asked about Calvert-Lewin’s groin injury, Dyche expressed hope that the player had avoided any serious damage and had been progressing well in the past few days.

During Sean Dyche’s first game in charge of Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered a hamstring injury and was sidelined until April 22nd when he returned for a goalless draw against Crystal Palace. Everton’s medical staff worked hard to ensure his full recovery. Despite his return, the 26-year-old forward was substituted at halftime in the team’s 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City due to a tight groin, prompting Dyche to make a decision regarding his fitness. On the other hand, Dyche expressed doubts about left-back Vitalii Mykolenko’s availability for the upcoming match, stating that he was unlikely to be fit in time.

“He’s got a chance for the next one, it’s risk and reward scenario and he hasn’t trained so therefore I doubt he’ll make this one.”
